Before Cleary, he practiced law at Sidley Austin LLP and served as a special assistant to President Bush from 1987-89. From 1986-89 he served on the staff of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C., where he focused on antitrust issues and technology policy issues.
Before joining the Judiciary Committee, he practiced law with Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, D.C., in their antitrust section in the 1970s and 1980s. He is also the author of The Biggest Con: Uncovering Irregularities at Enron and Other Washington Cons (Regnery Publishing).
